We have submitted a design concept to a competition being run by New York designer Richard Smith. The Dollar ReDe$ign Project hopes to bring about change for everyone. Richard Smith states that he ‘wants to rebrand the US Dollar, rebuild financial confidence and revive our failing economy.’
Why the size?
We have kept the width the same as the existing dollars. However we have changed the size of the note so that the one dollar is shorter and the 100 dollar is the longest. When stacked on top of each other it is easy to see how much money you have. It also makes it easier for the visually impaired to distinguish between notes.
Why a vertical format?
When we researched how notes are used we realized people tend to handle and deal with money vertically rather than horizontally. You tend to hold a wallet or purse vertically when searching for notes. The majority of people hand over notes vertically when making purchases. All machines accept notes vertically. Therefore a vertical note makes more sense.
Why different colors?
It’s one of the strongest ways graphically to distinguish one note from another.
Why these designs?
We wanted a concept behind the imagery so that the image directly relates to the value of each note. We also wanted the notes to be educational, not only for those living in America but visitors as well. Each note uses a black and white image depicting a particular aspect of American history and culture. They are then overprinted with informational graphics or a pattern relating to that particular image.
$1 – The first African American president
$5 – The five biggest native American tribes
$10 – The bill of rights, the first 10 amendments to the US Constitution
$20 – 20th Century America
$50 – The 50 States of America
$100 – The first 100 days of President Franklin Roosevelt. During this time he led the congress to pass more important legislations than most presidents pass in their entire term. This helped fight the economic crises at the time of the great depression. Ever since, every new president has been judged on how well they have done during the first 100 days of their term.

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
Hey. I can declare this may be a very interesting report. I actually me personally also have a site, you should check it in this case: http://torylaneontour.com
Right now it’s been based on the colour, the next you’ve to consider may be the maximum from the ugg store, you’ll need a brief, extended or even three-quarters from the selection.

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

Political commentary cloaked in a ‘design project’.
Each Australian $ denomination varies by size and colour. It’s much harder to distinguish US$ notes. Sorry, I hate your typography & design though.
This is an insult. Ugly and cheap looking, like pages torn out of a high school text book. You obviously lack even basic design skills. Whoever is responsible for this needs to be sidelined. If this is a serious proposal it is my sincerest prayers that whoever you people are quietly go out of business.
Why is there no mention of the word “dollar”, or the dollar sign $, on any of these notes? (I assume that the boilerplate of “this is a promissory note” etc. would be on the reverse.)
Is there a reason you didn’t include a $2 bill?
And the proper way to redesign the $1 is to replace it with a coin. Put Obama on the $2 and make that the smallest bill. Come up with some “2″ justification.

A perfect example of the pervasive addiction to appearance over substance, which enables politicians like Obama to get away with so much. Gotta say, as much as I like President Obama, he doesn’t even remotely deserve placement on our currency as of yet. Keep our true founding fathers on there—Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson—but keep any and ALL of our current politicians off. Obama seems to be cut from the same tree as Bush, Clinton, Carter—an amateur with good timing but doesn’t really know the first thing about leading a country. And the current unemployment numbers agree with me.
